It’s a really fun event where they raise money for MDA (like the Jerry Lewis Telethons) but instead of sitting at home by yourself making calls for donations, they invite everyone to come hang out together.

In between your calls there is a plethora of delicious food, raffles, our photo booth, and goodie bags to keep the excitement up and motivate you to keep raising money for such a great cause.

Here’s more coverage from the Gainesville Times if you are interested in participating next year!

Had a conversation with a NY-based promoter yesterday. He was at a conference in Vegas 2 weeks ago. Told me how all the dudes from the midwest were saying how they don’t even know or listen to any of the bands they book anymore, they just go to Hypem, look at the top 10-20 bands, and put in offers.

This is the race Marvin and I bet on Lady Prada (Dog #3) who ended up coming in last, doh!

Also learned the way to place a bet at a dog track:
1) Walk up with your bet in hand ($3 min)
2) Say which race (“10th race”), which dog number (“#3”), and if you want it to Win (come in first), Place (come in first or second) or Show (come in first, second or third).
3) Hold on to your ticket and go watch the race! It only lasts a few minutes though.

Marvin and I drove to Jacksonville last night to hang out with Thomas, Stephanie, Pat and Daniel. It was really special to be with some of my closest friends (most of whom I lived with for years) and to catch up for the first time in 3+ months.

Thomas lived with me his entire 4 years of college and now he’s married, just bought a house and his beautiful wifey Steph is about to give birth next month. I’m so excited to watch one of my best friends grow up and see his life transform (and live vicariously so I don’t have to take on all that responsibility!).

After a relaxing, laugh-filled dinner we passed a Dog Track and since Thomas & I had never been to one we did a quick u-turn and headed in. We only stayed for two races (one of which I won with a dog named Patsy Cline (5:1), one of which I lost with a dog named Lady Prada (14:1) but walked out with $5 of profit.

Never have to manually add flight info into your calendar/phone again using TripIt.

1) Have TripIt auto-crawl your Gmail account daily, finding itineraries via airline ticket confirmation emails.
2) Subscribe on your calendar/iPhone to your TripIt iCal feed so they all automagically show up.
3) Rejoice at the magic of technology.

PS. Scott Kidder showed me TripIt 2+ years ago, but I’m a techno-grouch (and I’m pretty sure this auto-crawl didn’t exist).
