Gainesviller.com Launches Today! (Powered by Tumblr)
So I created yet another tumblr. This time it’s Gainesviller.com, which I plan on making a community outlet about stuff to do, places to see, food to eat, and maybe a bit of Gainesville gossip.
Most of you are not from Gainesville and may not find this interesting, but I want to highlight some cool stuff I’m manipulating Tumblr to do:
Cool Thing #1: You’ll notice that every post has a different color heading and a title like ENTERTAINMENT or NEWS. I’m using Tumblr’s tagging system as fake categories. If I tag a post as “entertainment” it prints the tag on the top of the entry, and adheres “entertainment” as a class on the post-div. If I don’t tag something, it just goes to the default grey heading.
Cool Thing #2: I’ve added a public contribution section at tips.gainesviller.com. This is another Tumblr account I created. I’m making the email address you can use to post to it public. That way anybody can send in photos, tips, whatever and if it’s good enough I can simply reblog it on the front page.
