Turntable

So I decided I want a turntable. I’ve never owned one, and only used one for the first time in my life this year (staying at a friend’s in NYC). I was close to buying one yesterday from this old record shop in town but ultimately decided I shouldn’t be buying myself things in December (and that + speakers + reciever was wayy too expensive). I’d bet money I will have one before the end of 2008.

It’s hard to justify because I have a ridiculous music collection on my computer already, but there was something very refreshing about waking up every morning in NYC, turning it on and placing the needle down on Talking Head’s True Stories. Or just lying there and trying out random records. It made it much more of an event then what a majoriy of my at-home music listening experience has turned to (listening while working/surfing/chatting on the computer).
