People spend $10 a month to get an extra 400 minutes on their cell-phone plan. Why wouldn’t they spend that to get access to all the music that has ever existed?

When he frames it like it almost makes sense… Problem is, even I’m not quite comfortable with a streaming-only music experience. I like to have the files on my computer/hands, to do whatever I want to do with them. I pay for eMusic because it let’s me download actual MP3s to my computer. I’ve never paid for Rhapsody.

Don’t get me wrong, I like streaming as a discovery medium (see HypeM) but ultimately if I fall in love with something, I want to pay to support the artist and own it forever. I also have a hard time believing that all these artists could be compensated properly with me paying less than the price of a single album.
