My 2009 Goals

January 16

Egged on by Chris Guillebeau’s excellent Annual Review Guide, I finally sat down and finished this up. I’m not sure why, but I avoided it as much as possible the last 6 weeks, doing almost anything instead of sitting down and thinking about my future.

I’m not going to delve into the whole spreadsheet (on actionable goals, etc) but here is an overview of what I’d like to change and accomplish this year:

Work Balance:
* Create daily to-do list the night before
* Check email three times a day (morning, noon, end of work day)
* Stop taking things personally
* Only answer phone if I’m happy to speak
* Try to work a more normal schedule (9-5) to make time for family/Kaela better

Life Balance
* Do something every day that makes me happy
* Excercise 3 times a week (atleast 30 min) at the gym
* Stay 95% vegan (15 cheat days)
* Stop complaining (without solutions)
* Watch Less TV (one show a day, unless with family/friends)
* Complete 100 Pushups
* Do something outside twice a week

Friends & Family:
* Dinner w/ Family atleast once a week (Sundays?)
* Figure out what Kaela and I will do when she graduates
* Fun activity with Jenoa atleast once a week

Creativity & Learning
* Write 1 blog entry a week of substance
* Create 1 photo or video a week
* Learn Web Analytics

Entrepreneurship:
* SCHED*: Release SCHED* Maker
* Phobooth: Become profitable ($3k cost)
* Phobooth: How-to Guide/PDF

Financial:
* Save additional $10K ($800/mo)
* Setup IRA (need $4K; $500/mo)

Travel:
* Visit 4 new places (Possibilities: Portland, Seattle, Portland Maine, Buenos Aires)
* Take 3 trips with Kaela (One will be Portland)
* Live in two foreign countries (each for 1 month, one after Kaela graduates)

Overall goal is to have fun. Always remember to ask myself why do I want to do this and what happens if I don’t do this. Time is all you and I have.
